I seem to have a thing for painting interior doors black. My foyer doors are painted with Fine Paints of Europe high gloss paint. I just love the look. What do you think?
Grant, I think you must have been the one to inspire me to paint a few of my interior doors black. I've loved the look for so long but I wasn't sure it was for me. But our bedroom palette of grays, black, white and ivory was a perfect place to test out a black door. I used Benjamin Moore Advance 'Black' in high gloss, and even though our bedroom door has been painted a million times, it looks so chic and was a great quick transformation.
I wish I could but my interior palette doesn't really work with it but when I redecorate this year I am thinking of using a high gloss paint to complement the scheme but ideally a blue black is a favourite.
@David Lindberg- thank you. A dear friend did the gazing ball on top of a column and I stole the idea. Check this one out at CB2: http://www.cb2.com/stainless-steel-10-inch-ball/s641804
Grant- It was a House Beautiful article that made me fall in love with black doors and black windows - and back when I saw the article I dreamed it would be the perfect foil to our big black woodstove!
I just painted my windows BM Wrought Iron (semi-gloss) and the doors are next.
You doors are gorgeous. Did you change the hardware, too?
Lovely. I have always liked a touch of black in a room, be it a door, or a lacquered cabinet or lamp shade.
In my previous home there was no defined entry area, so I set it off with an old wooden column and would sit different things on it depending upon the seasons.
I´m a lover of all things shiny and black so no objections from this one. I love black´s ability to define spaces and deepness of black. Simultaneously high gloss gives it a much- needed lift and a mirroring surface from which light to travel and bounce.
All of our downstairs doors are painted black and I only wish I get could motivated to do the upstairs. There are classic and elegant just like a little black dress or pack of matches!!!

Grant, I love dark painted doors and even trim for the interior! Black is so striking!

beautiful! Wish I could have done high gloss on mine but I didn't think they were in good enough condition (plus I didn't have the patience!)

Like the black door, but love the gazing ball on top of the column outside your apt. Very Smart!
Absolutely beautiful!!!!!

@Nick- I think that I first fell in love with the black interior doors by Thomas O'Brien. I said- I am going to do that myself one day!
