Fifty Shades of Grey

As I was selecting colors for a client the other day I realized that I was having my own version of Fifty Shades of Grey. A little more of a literal interpretation.

While I haven’t read these books, it seems that everyone I know is either reading them or at least talking about them.  When I think of Fifty Shades of Grey, I think of paint.  My mind is racing with colors and combinations all day long.

So why not share some of my favorite grey paints?  This might not quite be 50 - I narrowed them down just a bit.

Farrow & Ball- Down Pipe - 26

Farrow & Ball - Pavillon Gray 242
Fine Paints of Europe- Silhouette Gray

Benjamin Moore- Grey Tint - 1611

Benjamin Moore- Stone Harbor- 2111-50

Benjamin Moore- Bear Creek- 1470

For me (and I bet, a bunch of others) gray is the most difficult shade to get just right. Thanks for narrowing down the options. Mary

Used Farrow & Ball's "Skimming Stone" recently - when the sun hits it, it's a gorgeous barely-grey that warms up the whole room. Love your round-up!

I would add to that my current favorite F&B Elephant's Breath (maybe it is because of the name, but I used it in my kitchen/family room and I love it).

I love your blog.....without a lot of gibberish it ever so inspiring. Grey can be difficult.
Do you differentiate warm & cool greys? How? Obviously I have made mistake recently.

I LOVE grey's! There is a grey for everyone, whether it be blue-grey, purple-grey, green-grey, brown-grey, white-grey or black-grey. Grey is the new neutrals and goes with everything..

I Love Grey. I have used many different shades over the years. Some of my favorites are Benjamin Moore Owl Gray and Pale Oak. It's counter intuitive, but grey is a very lively color. It changes color with the light, and the time of day.

How nice it is to read a literal interpretation of 50 Shades of Grey... I don't mean to hate on the books, (they have their place!), but this is a lovely and useful post.
