I
am so thrilled to share with you my “Budget Summer Cocktail Party” in the
July issue of Better Home and Gardens. If you are looking for some ideas for the 4th of
July- check it out!
As
you all know, I am not one to shy away from hosting a party at my home - in
fact it happens several times a month! I adore the intimacy that is
created within one’s own home - it is much more personal than going out to a
restaurant (and more affordable too.) I love to put my personal touches on my get togethers.
Better Homes and Gardens asked me to share some
of my tips and tricks to being the hostess with the mostest -for the
leastest! For the occasion, I threw an Asian-inspired cocktail party for
$74.05. It is truly all about getting creative and having fun with
it.
Instead
of getting the most expensive wine - why not make an easy personalized label on a bargin but refreshing wine?
Swapping a huge bouquet of flowers for a centerpiece of bright fruit and a few
delicate floating flowers is equally lovely for a fraction of the price. You can then eat the fruit too! Go for a simple meal that can be prepared ahead of time so that you can enjoy
the party too!
I do love the touch of cloth napkins, so I came up with the idea of personalizing these for the party so that everyone would have their own number.
Throwing
a gathering should be fun - not stressful.
Have a great week and a nice 4th of July.

Grant~ enjoyed reading & was inspired by the piece in BHG. Simple elegance creates both an impressive and smart look! Oranges paired with a crisp white bowl, plate,etc...are always an attention grabber! Cheers!
Congratulations, Grant...looks fabulous!!

I was tickled pink to read your article in BHG this month - it can be SO hard to create a fun party atmosphere on the cheap - but you gave excellent tips on how to throw parties without breaking the bank - which means this girl will be hostessing more often! Thanks, Grant!
Congrats! Great feature!
Congratulations, Grant. Love your photo- it is so not staged
I remember when your apartment was in BHG years ago. I still have it saved. You have come so far.
I am glad that you have not lost touch with doing things on a budget and what real people can afford.
Keep up the great work. Makes me smile when I see you in magazines!

Grant,
I stumbled across this article and was so thrilled when I saw you were the designer! You were my teacher at FIDM back in 2006 and I just wanted to say that you left a lasting impression on me. I still dream of the bedroom you designed at the dream home in SF. Your work continues to inspire me. Thank you for sharing your talent!
