House Beautiful- February 2012

House Beautiful (February 2012) asked me to send them a picture of something that I had around the house that was able to multi purposed.

"Some vintage Milo Baughman furniture inspired me to have this pair of Parsons tables painted to look like tortoiseshell. Pushed together, they make a great cocktail table- or I break them apart to use as side tables. Wallace, once of my Westies, thinks they're perfect to hide under"
-Grant K. Gibson, Interior designer

Thank you to House Beautiful for including me in this feature. Naturally, Wallace is thrilled too!

I don't know what to love more.
The tables, the dog, your apartment. LOOK at the details from the books to the jute to the Greek Key pillows. So happy to see your name in House Beautiful. YOU are such a STAR!

I thought the multi-purpose item was Wallace: love giver, bed-warmer, companion what more could you want--besides, he is adorable. Mary

This is so beautiful! You have amazing style! Would you share your source - where you got the parsons table frames to have painted?

The tables were vintage with a bad grey paint that was old and really dated looking. You might check online like etsy or ebay or flea markets.
I guess you could even do this idea on tables from Ikea or West Elm too. They have a lot of Parsons style simple tables and pieces.

Congrats on the press mention! The pair of tables is a great idea especially in a small space. I like the tables better than ottomans or poufs because they are so much easier to move and being able to see the floor makes for less visual clutter. And pretty much anything can be painted if you use the right primer, so if you find a pair you like having them painted is the way to go!

ps your dogs are so photogenic!

I adore these little tables Grant. Who did the painting for you? My Miss Belle would be under there as well!
