Lunch with Bunny
I am traveling back in time a few weeks to my trip to Connecticut, where I was lucky enough to have lunch at the country home of one of my favorite designers- Bunny Williams.
The afternoon couldn't have been nicer. The most beautiful picnic lunch while walking around the grounds and exploring every inch from the chicken coop to the green house to famous pool pavilion.
Needless to say, I was ready to move in. Every detail filled with warmth and comfort like only Bunny can do. Not a detail was missing - from fully stocked bars set out for her guests to enjoy (Bunny loves to set out the bar so all that she has to do is fill a bucket of ice and guests can help themselves) - to so many wonderful places to find a comfortable spot to sit.
I am loving Bunny's latest book: “Bunny Williams’ Scrapbook for Living” filled with all kind of tips that would make Martha Stewart proud (you can check out Bunny on The Martha Stewart Show on November 11th). It is filled with practical advice: from keeping your pantry full to alway stocking Nature's Miracle (Bunny and I share the love of having dogs in our homes) to repurposing simple items such as sheets (doesn't that sound familiar?)
Overall, I love that Bunny is such a real person who is filled with practical advice along with being just the nicest hostess.
My lunch in Connecticut was certainly an afternoon to remember.
Make sure to check back soon to see more of my trip to Connecticut and my afternoon tea with Carolyne Roehm.

What a dream afternoon it must have been! Cant wait to read about Carolyn!
Thank you for your recent note! I completely agree.
When are you coming to Santa Fe??
Your brother in design,

Thanks, Grant, for the tip! I was able to tune in just in time to see her on the show. Too bad the segment was geared to the American attention span. Martha clearly hurried it along and I could have heard her go on for a lot longer! Glad I didn't miss it. What a treat to visit her CT home. Thanks for the photos. Your charmed life continues...
Oh so jealous! and what did you eat? LOL
So many great detail shots that I've never seen before -thanks for sharing it with us!
You lucky rascal!!! I have all her books, even the newest "Scrapbook" and
a bag packed, hoping to get an invitation to visit. Alas...just wishful
thinking. And there you are seeing two wonderful designers and homes and
gardens and lovely ladies on one trip. Lucky you...envious me! But,
thanks for sharing!

I love Bunny Williams! Grant your pictures were wonderful.
Grant - what a day to remember! I'll bet you felt like you felt you were IN the pages of one of Bunny's books!

Your photos are incredible! Thanks for sharing - now what did you have for lunch?

Despite her success, Bunny comes across as very approachable somewhat like Ina Garten. What a wonderful way to spend the afternoon. Loved the pictures - wish they were larger.
You can click on the photos to make them bigger!
Lunch with Bunny and tea with Carolyne? Where did you go for dinner you lucky boy?
Love Bunny and love that you got to spend time with her. She's amazing.

Grant...you take the best shots. Your point of view is so different from most. What could have been a tired "been there seen that" turned out to be a refreshing new perspective.....thanks for that...K
Stunning home - especially that outdoor area! Thanks for the amazing look into Bunny's home. What a treat.
Grant- Such a nice trip! That wooden stenciled floor was jaw dropping amazing (and a little trippy) and your shots of the pool pavilion show some details I've never seen before.
Thanks for sharing your visit with us!

That is one stocked bar!
Dear Grant, what a fabulous experience. I absolutely love the lifestyle that Bunny Williams projects. She and her husband are so gracious and hospitable. You were very lucky indeed. Unfortunately her books are not available in South Africa, but I have managed to order them on Amazon and get them brought over when friends have travelled to the USA and I am so excited because the new one will be arriving tomorrow via Seattle and I can’t wait.
Love your blog too and I really appreciate the effort and thought that goes into each post. It must be a lot of hard work and I thank you for sharing it with me
Very best wishes
