Pretty in pink

The Elle Decor Showhouse is just a few weeks away! I am in the final stretch of putting the space together.

The painters are doing their thing today. Carpeting goes in on Monday and then what might be the most exciting part of the space (or the most anticipated for me) the hand painted de Gournay wallpaper!

I did a custom color and really brightened up the background pink color as well as some of the flowers and the green of the leaves.

I am not sure if I will be able to sleep the night before it is ready to go it. It's just so beautiful!

I can't thank everyone at de Gournay enough for their kindness, our hundreds of emails and phone calls to make this happen.

Thought I would share some of the process and photos of the paper being made...

Can you believe that this is all painted by hand? No wonder it takes months for it to be made. Look at the details.

You can see in the lower right corner how I picked the pink color and gave them this color that I wanted to use as well as the bright green.

Here is how the elevation of the room is done. It's a lot of measuring and communication to make sure that everything matches up perfectly

These panels are done and ready to go in

That's my dream wallpaper, {sigh}. I wonder if they usually paint in a blazer and such a starched white cuff? Somehow I doubt it.

This will be stunning! It reminded me of the famous artist Michael Lin's hand painted walls (I have a post on Pomellato store in Milan done by him). I really wish I could be in San Francisco to admire your work, Grant, that room will be a "dream" come true.

Good Grief! I wouldn't want to be that paper hanger!
Thanks for sharing this process, Grant. I had no idea it was this involved. Proves that blogging can be educational!

oh grant, I am posting these photos to my blog -- to say that this custom de gournay wallpaper is stunning doesn't even begin to cover it! I am in l-o-v-e. It is a not-so-secret dream of mine to one day have a de gournay-wallpapered room in my home : ) we'll see!

I also noticed the blazer & nicely starched shirt. I'd be willing to bet that the painter really did paint this paper in that blazer & crisply starched shirt. Of course this, in part, played a part in the exquisite outcome! LOL
