Where can you find a house that is filled with hand- painted silk wallpaper- pillows that are inspired the shape of medicine balls (and a play on a classic Michael Taylor design)- shipping crates made into furniture- walls painted to look like faux wood- modern wooden sculptures in the front yard- cocoons made into light fixtures- flowers freshly picked from gardens- and fabric that cost less than $2 a yard?
No- not my house. Guess again.
If you haven’t heard me mention it a few times lately- it is that time of year for the annual San Francisco Decorator Showcase house located at 3450 Washington Street in the Presidio Heights area of San Francisco.
I might sound like a broken record at times about how much the showcase house means to me. But, it really does hold a special place in my heart as I got my start in interior design by designing rooms and slowing building my business.
I did three rooms three consecutive years in a row- and the whole experience was amazing.
I had the chance to take a sneak peek yesterday- so here a few highlights from my trip.
If you are in San Francisco- DO check out the website for more info (the house is open from May 1st- May 31st)
Walking around the house really made me think that maybe next year it might be time to design another space. After walking around a house with such creativity- it really has had my mind racing with ideas.

It looks amazing! I wish I could make it to SF for this year's Showhouse. I was there in 2008 and thought it was so gorgeous and inspiring. Thanks for sharing these images. I can at least live vicariously through you. :)
GORGEOUS!! I would like to move right in. Those gathered upholstered walls-- to die for!
Grant, I cannot be there so thank you for sharing these luscious images. Love the canopied daybed and so much more!

Great post, Grant!
Grant, I always love telling people how instrumental you were in my very first Pacific Heights project. What an amazing trip it's been for both of us! B

Grant (that's also my husband's name!)~ I just love seeing the SF Decorator Showcase. I lived on Jackson, near Walnut in the Presidio Heights area - and I really do love that city. That was the first home we owned and it is where I began to figure out what worked for me. These pictures are pure eye candy!
Excellent photos... I've actually printed off a few to add to my Style File in the section with a few other pics from your site - labeled Grant Gibson Decorating God!
Ciao,
Toma
exquisite post. xx pam
Grant-
I really enjoy your method of drifting throught the house with the images that caught your eye!
It is so easy to go through a house with so much visual stimuli and miss the great details. The house is beautiful, and thanks for your take on it!
