My stoop makeover
I was feeling lately like my stoop leading to my apartment was looking a little boring and blah.
With a little bit of fall in the air now in San Francisco, I thought it might be time for a makeover.
Something low maintenance and relatively easy to put together was what I had in mind.
After a little trip to the flower market and the pumpkin patch and I was ready for the transformation!
It really feels much more welcoming to me and really freshened the space up.
What do you think?
What do you have by your front door? Do you even bother to "decorate" your entrance?
The stoop just looked so bare
New topiaries and ivy and baby boxwood
My helpers were less than pleased with sharing the backseat of the car
I fell in love with the cream and white and pale green color palette
Progress
Loved the color of these green/grey pumpkins
The little boxwood are adorable

Looks wonderful. Your helpers are too cute! (wouldn't you love to have the transcript of what they were thinking?)
You did a great job. Love it. Must get Halloween decorations up today. So behind. You've inspired me. Have a great week.
It looks great Grant! We drove out to the country this weekend and came home with lots of white pumpkins. Never would have thought to use topiaries!
Great looking stoop Grant. Love your helpers too!
I am sure they have a lot of imput in the design process.

Looks great. I love the non orange pumpkins and the topiaries are the perfect addition.
It's Beautiful, Grant.
Love the topiary addition and the pumpkin post "finial".
You're hooked now! Your porch will never be bare during any season!!!
Mr. Gibson,
But how to you keep folks from swiping from your stoop? I am in NY and believe me, those autumnal decorations would not last a minute! Sigh... SF must be so much more civil than NYC.....
Georgia Frasch
Georgia,
You are RIGHT! I am a little concerned. But, the good news is that they are only pumpkins and not all that valuable. My front stoop is sort of hidden in a way from the street, so that makes it a little bit better that it doesn't exactly get as much attention.
Grant
love the stoop! so happy... xx
Those pumpkins are fabulous! Love the green and white combination. Hope you had a lovely weekend and stayed dry in the rain we had yesterday! See you around the neighborhood :)
I never thought that I would like something without the traditional orange. But, you Mr. Gibson have done it again. Always keeping us on our toes. SO chic!
Eddie Ross, eat your heart out!
Ohh it looks absolutely gorgeous! Those grey pumpkins are incredible.

gorgeous! i love using something other than the traditional orange. pam
Love your doggies! Your steps and stoop look so nice. The little topiaries wouldn't last 5 minutes in my 'hood! Lots of sticky fingers around me, lol.
Love the composition and you can also eat some of it when tired of the look! At least that is what I do, I make gnocchi out of pumpkins or risotto di zucca or...
It's perfect! Not too much, and beautiful color selection. I loved it so much I blogged about you. Thanks!
I love those helpers! And the stoop looks good, too--not even one orange pumpkin? I guess that I'm just old fashioned.
Mary,
Maybe I will have to add one orange pumpkin just for you!
Wow! What a transformation! Love your helpers, too!
Ooooh, spooky and groovy all rolled into one ; )

Grant,
Great choices and a little goes a long way for sure. I just added new plants to my porch this morning also, marigold, white mini rose bush, burgundy mum, green-grey Artemis powis castle and a small pumpkin for the season.
Your sweet helpers are the best!

Looks fantastic Grant! I love the grey pumpkins....I am going to have to hot the pumpkin patch! You have inspired me!
Just came across your blog for the first time and really enjoy it. And I'm going to emulate your work on the stoop in my own little private courtyard. Looking forward to seeing lots of your work in the future.
Love your stoop makeover! If you happen to be on flickr- would love to invite you to add to our fall door decor group @ http://www.flickr.com/groups/fall_dwelling/

I love the white pumpkins, but I love your white pups even more!
I saw my first white pumpkin this month when a friend brought one over. That's about the extent of my outdoor decorating this fall.
I am totally copying this. Don't be surprised when you come to Oakland and my house looks just like yours. From the outside, at least.
